Phase 2: The Mother Wheel
In 2023, the CB Wheels of Intention Working Group is embarking on its Phase 2 permanent public art creation: The Mother Wheel. This will be a large custom copper prayer wheel housed within a protective shelter, where people can sit quietly, spin intentions and appreciate the beauty of our mountain paradise (the design will unfold as we proceed).Â
This next project is scheduled to take five years and will be a huge community effort! We invite you to dream, imagine and help make our vision a reality for all to behold. In the Himalayas, our mountain brothers and sisters create monuments with prayer flags and wheels. We, in Crested Butte, are proposing to respectfully adopt these artistic and spiritual tools to honor the Elk Mountains, our shared mountain environment and cultures, and to inspire a greater appreciation for our complex, interconnected and fragile life at the top of our watershed.Â
